Lunch Monitor
Job requirements:
- Have strong supervisory skills, specifically with children.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Capable of organizing and controlling large numbers of children.
- Have strong communication skills.
- Must have a valid First Aid/CPR Certification considered an asset.
EXCEL Program Staff
The EXCEL program is a fee-for-service recreational program run by the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. (See Section 2). There are two different positions available: Group Leader and Program Team Leader.
Group Leader
Job requirements:
- Must have a minimum of one year's experience in the child care field.
- Have knowledge of recreational programming.
- Must have strong communication skills.
- Have ability to work as part of a team.
- Must have High School Completion Certificate or equivalent.
- Must have valid Emergency Level First Aid/CPR Certificate Program.
Team Leader
Job requirements:
- Must have supervisory skills for both staffing and children.
- Must be able to motivate and work well with a team of staff.
- Must be able to develop and participate in the delivery of creative core programming.
- Must have Early Childhood Education diploma or University background in child studies, recreation or related experience in professional child care field.
- Must have valid First Aid/CPR Certification.
Educational Program Assistant
Skills:
- The ability to treat students in a respectful, responsible and fair manner with consideration to the students\' physical, social and psychological development.
- The ability to demonstrate an understanding of encouraging independence in students with special needs.
- The ability to demonstrate appropriate responses to student initiated interactions.
- The ability to demonstrate fair and ethical judgements.

Job requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Emergency Level First Aid Training
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training
- Physical abilities consistent with requirements of the job which may include personal and physical care
- Experience in dealing with children/youth
- Additional courses and/or workshops in child/adolescent studies/personal care
Library Support Specialist
Skills:
- The ability to operate and maintain an automated library catalogue, including circulation.
- The ability to use current information technology and the internet.
- The ability to use the Dewey Decimal System in organizing and maintaining an effective system for tracking and reporting.
- The ability to coordinate activities for students, teachers and volunteers which increase student learning.
- The ability to work with students under the supervision of the teacher.
- The ability to assist students and teachers to use the library and library materials effectively.
- The ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- The ability to work and communicate effectively within the school, with students, parents, community members and external groups.
- The ability to apply knowledge, experience and commitment in the areas of race relations, cross cultural understanding, human rights and diversity.
